Yemenis experienced massive hardships from unrelenting air strikes, rocket outbreaks, ground fighting and bombarding to socioeconomic blockade, all of which resulted in the demolition of bridges, schools and health facilities and in the worsening of water and sanitation services. Under Yemen’s crippled infrastructure, deteriorating economy and food insecurity, the people try in vain to get help on time, with hospitals overwhelmed with mass casualties and short of supplies.

Indeed, more than half of Yemen’s health facilities are closed or malfunctioning. Medical facilities that remain open face dire shortages of qualified doctors and personnel and calamitous shortages of essential items to treat most of the trauma cases caused by aerial bombings and ground fighting, including gunshot wounds, burns, and blast injuries. The breakdown in health services has caused an additional 10,000 preventable child deaths per year since 2015 and left millions of them in need of humanitarian assistance.
