> How much do you know about YeMed?

Medical facilities have been shut down by hits and airstrikes and a lot of diseases are quickly spreading, posing an increased health risk to the vulnerable Yemeni children. Since March 2015, the number of Yemeni individuals requiring health care has risen steeply while its availability has swiftly contracted.

According to OCHA, 14.8 million Yemenis lack access to basic health care, out of which 8.1 million are children — an increase of more than 70 percent in two years.  Indeed, UNICEF estimates that every 10 minutes, at least one child dies of preventable causes like diarrhea, malnutrition, and respiratory tract infections.

About Medical Care

Destroying a country that was already one of the poorest countries in the Middle East, the war in Yemen, which emerged between coalitions led by Saudi Arabia and the Houthi rebel movement in March 2015, created a devastating humanitarian disaster. The catastrophe compounded needs resulting from previous lack of wealth, health and security and subsequently deteriorated significantly. It disrupted millions of lives and resulted in widespread losses.
